Which one to take!`?" So yes, he did mention linux and he did ask a question, however, this was still not an explicit request for us to do anything for him. I see this line: "Yes: - above all _ i want to have a program that runs on Linux - so this makes it hard for me - to find a appopiate one. He was very clearly trying to start a conversation.Īnd just to be fair to you, I took the trouble of reading his post again. Read what he said again: "What's your favourite Bible software-package and why do you use it?" This wasn't a request to do anything. I think he did so because he was trying to start a conversation. I think the reason he mentioned those packages is not because he wanted us to find out for him whether they'd run on linux or not. Kinda strange he mentions all those packages but for some reason can't go look to see if they run on linux since that's the only thing for sure we know about what he wants.Įdited by jake19, 04 November 2020 - 05:35 PM.

The only way for him to know is to go an try them and read about them. Asking what someones favorite is won't do him any good since if it doesn't have the features he wants it'll not work.

Because he also mentions things he wants, meaning hes got a feature set in mind, which means he could use or look at the options to find what he wants.

Great, so why hasn't he just looked at their websites to find one of those that runs on linux? And if it is, chances are good its free or at least has a trial version. Well, he lists a bunch of programs, then says he wants it to run on linux. He said: What's your favourite Bible software-package and why do you use it?Ĭlearly he is just trying to start a chat. I don't think he wanted us to do those things for him. So you want us to look up the different websites, read them for you, find out which ones work on Linux, and suggest one for you? Is there a compelling reason you can't look this up yourself? Or why you can't just try out the different ones and pick your favorite?
